But I currently don’t know about the influence at development time, like the settings done in Eclipse. In theory, with JDK 11 those could be easier set using the newly introduced release-option. The important thing in my setup is that I want to keep targeting JDK 8, that’s while the dependency is compileOnly and why my compatibility-options still look like the following: java So, when build with JDK 11, additional dependencies are simply made available and compiling succeeds again. This can then be applied to adle using the following line: apply from: 'buildSrc/src/main/java/adle' To do so, I decided to create a new Gradle-file documenting that problem with the following code: if (JavaVersion.current().isJava8())ĬompileOnly 'javax.annotation:javax.annotation-api:1.3.2' What does seem to work as well is configuring the directory where JDK 8 is placed in the Gradle-configs of Eclipse:īut to make the build succeed using JDK 11, the missing packages need to be made available as additional dependency. Only Eclipse knows about JDK 11 and I configured the path to use it in eclipse.ini. When publishing the projects on the shell things succeed again, because JDK 8 is still the default JDK of the system. TargetCompatibility = JavaVersion.VERSION_1_8 SourceCompatibility = JavaVersion.VERSION_1_8 My adle already contained the following two statements, which don’t seem to have any effect: sourceCompatibility = 1.8Ĭhanging those lines to the following didn’t change anything as well: java The problem is with Buildship: When using the Gradle’s task view to publish some projects, compilation fails with errors which are clearly related to using JDK 11 as well:Ĭ:\Users\jooq\Sequences.java:7: error: package javax.annotation does not exist Coding in Eclipse itself seems to work as expected, especially I don’t get any errors or warnings about deprecations or missing classes because of changes JDK 8 vs. Besides that, I have still registered JDK 8 as default JRE to be used by Eclipse. Reasons are that I need the C+±plugin CDT, which seems to only work with JDK 11, and Eclipse requires JDK 11 for itself with the next release anyway. Until Eclipse 2020-03 I executed it with JDK 8, since Eclipse 2020-06 I’m doing so with JDK 11. ![]() ![]()

![]() ![]() Also, for an action-comedy, there is a distinct lack of action scenes, the balance just wasn't there, unfortunately. Film-wise, it is very predictable and plays it safe for the family-friendly audience. It's a bit of a mishmash with some good ideas, some not so good ideas - yet lacking in humourous moments. But seeing Kimble's face as the kids run amok in the classroom, was priceless.Īlso, for long periods, the main narrative where Kimble and O'Hara hunt down Crisp and his mother, gets lost within the film. Kindergarten Cop does have its faults, however: the grandmother is not a very convincing villain and some of the stuff the kids were saying and doing, wasn't as humorous and amusing as one expects it to be, for a comedy. Nevertheless, the musical score is pretty nice to hear. The violence isn't over-the-top and graphic as others have made it out to be. Crisp played by Richard Tyson was good and surprisingly creepy as the main baddie.Īlthough it is a cop film, much of what happens during and throughout the film occurs at the school where Kimble poses as a kindergarten teacher, as he adjusts to his surroundings and gets used to working with children. The film begins in typical Arnie fashion when Kimble goes into all gung-ho, kick-ass cop mode by going after nemesis Cullen Crisp (some name that is) with gunshots and bullets flying everywhere. Arnold plays his usual good cop action hero role as standard and as proven in Twins, he can easily assimilate into and adapt to comedy, just as well by having fun with the script. The script can use a bit more fine-tuning though. Initially, the movie was awarded a 15 certificate in Britain when it was originally released in cinemas - which was strange and surprising as most of the stuff that takes place in the movie would have warranted a PG or PG-13 rating at most in today's movie age.ĭespite the odd premise, Kindergarten Cop is one of Arnold Schwarzenegger's fewest attempts at doing comedy, and thanks to an interesting narrative, it kind of works. Whilst as a teacher, he discovers his love for teaching and starts to take a shine to a little boy named Dominic and his mother who also teaches at the same school. As an undercover police officer, John Kimble is in hot pursuit of drug lord Cullen Crisp by posing as a teacher at a school. Enjoy the Kindergarten Cop reunion below.'A Pretty Odd Premise for a Cop Comedy Film That Actually Works'Īfter 1988's Twins - which was a so-so comedy for me - big Arnie reunited with comedy director, Ivan Reitman for another slice of humourous farce, in the shape of Kindergarten Cop. RELATED: BATMAN THE ANIMATED SERIES AND BATMAN BEYOND MOVES FROM DC UNIVERSE TO HBO MAX The 1990 film went on to become a smash-hit grossing over $200 million dollars worldwide and extended Schwarzenegger’s career, as he had then solidified his status as a comedic star after his success in the 1988 comedy, Twins, with Danny Devito. At the time, Schwarzenegger was at the height of his action superstar fame thanks to movies like The Terminator, Commando, and Predator, so seeing him in this sort of movie was quite funny and a career risk for the action star at the time. ![]() During a recent reunion of the now grown up children of Kindergarten Cop, Arnold Schwarzenegger showed up and surprised them.ģ0 years ago Kindergarten Cop premiered with Arnold Schwarzenegger in the lead role of an undercover cop forced to deal with a kindergarten class of hilariously inappropriate and rambunctious children. ![]() ![]() It was kind of like the space race, only about Madonna's boobs.ġ990: Madonna is photographed by Helmut Newton on the cover of Vanity Fair. It's also great at keeping your drinks hot, falling from 202 degrees Fahrenheit to 172 after two hours, 145 after five, and 116 after 10. Though it lacks a rubber bottom, the cup is still comfortable to hold and stable. The cup is incredibly durable and lightweight, coming in at 11.6 ounces for the 20 ounce capacity. It's a bit difficult to reassemble, especially when you haven’t rebuilt it before. The whole cup is dishwasher safe, but you might want to think twice about taking apart the lid. But other than the occasional dribble, it won’t leak even when turned upside down and severely shaken. Though the lid is useful, it does tend to leave a bit of water in the mouthpiece if you close it too quickly. The lid is also built to last, having a unique trigger system that lets you take a sip by just pressing the button. A 20 ounce capacity is available too, which will no doubt weigh even more - we tested the 16 ounce capacity. Made of stainless steel, the double-wall vacuum insulation creates a sturdy mug that weighs 12.8 ounces and holds 16 ounces, making it one of the heaviest we reviewed.
